Garden design
in
Charlesworth.

Charlesworth sits up on the hill just over from Glossop, and the gardens here get the views and the weather to match. I look after Robb and Rob’s garden in the village, and we change it bit by bit as we go.

ROBB AND ROB’S GARDEN

Designing in the dirt

No big master plan on day one. I look after the garden regularly and we change it a piece at a time: spray paint on the lawn, bamboo canes where a tree might go, and plenty of standing about with a brew deciding if it feels right. Only then do we commit.

HOW IT WORKS HERE

One gardener

The person weeding the border is the person who designed it, so nothing gets pulled out by mistake and every plant is there for a reason. When there’s hard landscaping to do, I brief the contractors and keep an eye on the build so the finish matches the idea.

What I do in Charlesworth

Design, planting and care. And when something is at its best, I’ll happily cut a bit for the house. It is the florist in me.

DESIGN

The whole garden rethought, from survey to planting plan.

PLANTING

Planting design

Good bones, tired planting? New borders that do more all year.

CARE

Looking after your garden as it grows, the way it was meant to.

How it works

STEP 1

A brew and a chat

We talk about your garden, how you use it and what you’d love it to be.

STEP 2

Visit and survey

I come and look properly: soil, light, slope, and what’s already thriving.

STEP 3

The design

A layout and planting plan made for your garden, tweaked until it feels right.

STEP 4

Planting and care

I plant it up, and I can keep looking after it as it settles in.

Higher gardens get more wind and more weather. That is no bad thing if you plant for it: plants that move rather than snap, shelter where it counts, and soil looked after so roots go deep.

Good to know.

Can you change it bit by bit?

Yes, that’s exactly how Robb and Rob’s garden works: small projects as time and budget allow, alongside regular care.

Do you do sloping gardens?

Yes. Plenty of gardens round here tilt, and plant choice matters more than anything.

Can you just look after it?

Yes. Garden stewardship is for gardens close to Glossop, and Charlesworth is just up the hill.

What does it cost?

It depends on the garden. We have a chat first, and I give you a clear price before anything starts.

Where else do you work?

Glossop, Old Glossop, Simmondley, Gamesley, Hadfield and Charlesworth, plus Hayfield, New Mills, Disley, Marple, Marple Bridge, Mellor, Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith and Buxton. For bigger gardens I’ll happily go further: Bramhall, Poynton, Prestbury, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Hale, Bowdon, Saddleworth and the Hope Valley.
