GARDEN STEWARDSHIP

Gardens aren’t finished. They’re tended.

My garden stewardship is for gardens that need thoughtful, skilled care through the seasons. I work with what’s already there, helping plants establish, evolve and thrive. Available in Glossop, the High Peak and the Peak District.

What stewardship covers

Rather than simply maintaining a space, I get to know it.

SEASON BY SEASON

Seasonal care

Ongoing hands-on care shaped around your garden and the time of year. Pruning, dividing, staking, cutting back, mulching and all the small interventions that keep a garden looking considered without making it feel over-managed.

OVER TIME

Planting & evolution

Gardens change. Plants outgrow their positions, gaps appear and sometimes something just isn’t working. I edit and develop existing planting over time, so the garden gets richer as it matures.

WITH NATURE

Ecological care

Beautiful gardens can be useful gardens too. I work with natural processes wherever possible, improving soil, supporting wildlife and thinking carefully about what I cut, keep, compost and leave alone.

How it works

STEP 1

A brew and a chat

We talk about your garden and what you want from it.

STEP 2

A walk round

I visit, look at the soil, the light and what’s growing, and suggest a rhythm of visits.

STEP 3

Regular visits

I come through the year and do what the season asks for.

STEP 4

It gets better

I edit and add to the planting as the garden matures.

A little less “tidy everything immediately”, a little more understanding what the garden is actually doing.

Stewardship is local: Glossop, the High Peak and the Peak District, from Charlesworth to Disley.

In the garden

Gardens through the seasons.

Good to know.

What does a stewardship visit involve?

It depends on the garden and the time of year. Pruning, dividing, staking, cutting back and mulching, plus the small jobs that keep a garden looking considered without feeling over-managed.

Will the planting change over time?

Yes, where it helps. Plants outgrow their spots, gaps appear and sometimes something just isn't working. I edit the planting and add to it, so the garden gets richer as it matures.

Is garden stewardship good for wildlife?

It's a big part of it. I work with natural processes wherever I can: improving the soil, supporting wildlife and thinking carefully about what to cut, keep, compost and leave alone.

How do I get started?

Book a free 30-minute consultation online, or text me, and tell me a bit about your garden. I look after gardens in Glossop, the High Peak and the Peak District.

Tell me about your garden and how it’s doing. No brief needed.
